Bubs Candy Is Coming to America: Swedish Candy Favorites to Be Manufactured in the USA

BUBS Candy made its real debut in the U.S. back in 2021–2022, thanks to the power of social media. Viral TikTok videos from creators and influencers featuring these tasty and popular skulls and ovals in a variety of flavors sent U.S. consumers scrambling to get their hands on these cherished Swedish treats.

Since then, getting a hold of BUBS candy has become increasingly difficult. In fact, several Swedish wholesale companies that have partnered with the BUBS factory in Jönköping have placed limits on how much candy they export to other countries, including the U.S. and parts of Asia.

In 2022, the Norwegian conglomerate Orkla Confectionery & Snacks acquired the BUBS company, with the goal of expanding the factory’s capacity to meet growing international demand.

However, those expansion efforts have not been enough to keep up with global consumer demand. Occasional production delays at the BUBS factory have also contributed to shortages — leaving many U.S. retailers and fans frustrated by out-of-stock notices.

But now, exciting news is brewing: Orkla Confectionery & Snacks and the BUBS factory have reportedly signed a deal with Mount Franklin Foods in El Paso, Texas, to begin manufacturing BUBS candy in the United States — as early as this year!

Mount Franklin Foods would have exclusive rights to produce this internationally loved Swedish candy on U.S. soil.

Production and distribution in America are rumored to be just a few months away, with a tentative launch around August 2025.

Naturally, questions remain:

  • Will the U.S.-made BUBS taste the same?

  • Will the ingredients, texture, and quality be consistent with Swedish-made versions?

  • Will new flavors be introduced?

  • Will the price point change?

All these questions and many more we’ll simply have to see about once the products have been made and are officially distributed. Only time will tell — and we’re just as eager as you are to find out.

On the bright side, U.S. production could make BUBS candy far more accessible to American consumers, potentially giving it even more shelf space and visibility in stores nationwide.

Unlike many American candies, BUBS does not contain Red 40, Blue 2, Yellow 5, or other artificial dyes. It’s also gelatin-free, non-GMO, gluten-free, and vegan-friendly — and still absolutely delicious!

At The Pirate Candy Shop in Tampa, we’re committed to stocking as many BUBS candy flavors as possible — and to offering any new or returning varieties as soon as they’re available.
